We respond to inquiries promptly during business hours, not contacting the parents too late in the day. We ensure transparency. We keep the parents in the loop about every update in case they need to plan accordingly.

MS. Madhavi Goparaju

NYS Certified Level 3
Teaching Assistant
M.S Computer Science – NYIT Manhattan
B.E (E.C.E)-Osmania University

“I don’t just teach – I help students learn how to think through
problems with clarity and confidence”

Industry Experience:
MS. Madhavi Goparaju has 8 years of experience working in public schools as a Teaching Assistant. She worked at Hicksville HS as a Computer Teaching Assistant for 1.5 years, at Uniondale School District as a Technology Teaching Assistant for 2 years, and finally at Westbury Middle school as a classroom Teaching Assistant working with students with special needs for 4.5 years. She gained a lot of experience at Westbury Middle School. She learned the teaching strategies that teachers use to make students understand various
subjects. She worked one on one with students and in groups. She enjoys teaching Math.

Motivation to start a Tutoring Center:
MS. Madhavi Goparaju noticed students’ struggles after Covid in the year 2020 when students started virtual classes. She felt the need to help struggling students and started working as a tutor for a local tutoring center in Hicksville, N.Y. She helped the students at that tutoring center for 4 years. She decided to establish her own tutoring center in Hicksville to help the local community.

She also wants to train the students’ parents for the ATAS exam (Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills) who are interested in becoming Teaching Assistants. She encourages all mothers to have a career.

Ms. Madhavi Goparaju can teach the students different strategies to solve math problems to instill them with confidence. Many students are afraid to work on word problems because they do not recognize what the elements of the problem are. They have difficulty writing the problem in the form of an equation. Ms. Goparaju encourages the students to read until they understand the question. She diagrams on paper with the problem’s information. This gives a clear idea to the student what s/he needs to solve this problem. She always encourages students to use pencils and paper to do math.

Example: There are 2 stores selling apples at different prices.
Store A sells 3 apples for $1.99. Store B sells 5 apples for $3. The question is to determine which store has the best bargains. To do this, we must find the unit price for 1 apple in each store by dividing the
price by the number of apples.

In this case she asks the students to:
1) Circle the numbers.
2) Underline the question.
Illustration of steps for solution:
Unit price = cost âž— number of apples.
Unit price for an apple at Store A will be 1.99 âž— 3, which is $0.66 per apple.
Unit Price for an apple at Store B will be 3âž— 5, which gives $0.6 per apple.
This proves Store B has the best deal because the unit price is less than the Store A.

Reading Skill Development:
Ms. Madhavi Goparaju also encourages students to read for 20 minutes every day. She loves to read aloud children’s books to elementary school students. Instead of passively reading to the children, she stops after a passage to ask questions about the story up to that point or have the children predict what might happen next in the story. This boosts comprehension, engagement and vocabulary-building. She encourages parents to set an example by reading their own books or magazines while their children read. This shows that reading is a valued part of daily life, an important tool, and not a punishment, but a pleasure.
